Sidewinder X6 Volume Control - Windows 7?

Hello there,

Just got a new sidewinder x6 gaming keyboard; things work fine on it
(keys, macros, etc.) the only thing not behaving is the volume dial; it
doesn't control any type of volume (either system of application).

I've using Windows 7 RC (and the new intellitype software) so am unsure if
this is an error in the beta software or if the keyboard doesn't work. Do
any other users have this problem, or have they found a way to resolve it?

R.

Doing some work and research, I've found out that:

- To enable volume dial \ mute control, you need to go into Windows
Services, and Start the Human Interface Device service. You should also set
it to Automatic, so it runs on Windows startup

- Media buttons work flawlessly in Windows Media Player, but iTunes has
difficulties with media shortcut keys; apparently it always has done, and
probably always will do; you can get it working when iTunes is in focus, but
when in background (or another program has control, such as a full screen
game) media keys will not control iTunes. Again, WMP responds to media
keys wherever you are, and whatever state the program is in.

Sadly, have to use iTunes because of my iPod Touch; I could use WMP as well
(i.e. to play songs from my library, rather than iTunes) but I'd rather
iTunes just worked with the media keyboard.

I'm also having exactly the same problem with Wireless Natural Multimedia
keyboard on Win7 RC1, Intelltype 7.0 and 6.3.

It's fine when I'm booted to XP on the same machine, and was fine with Win7
Beta too. I think they broke something, I can't find anything on the MS
technet about it

I'll keep playing and post if I find a solution.

Have found a solution, is a well-known issue with iTunes apparently.

Simply follow the instructions here and install this iTunes plugin.

Works perfectly.

I'm having similar problems in XP Pro SP3

I'm running a soundblaster X-fi however I don't think that should effect
anything
